Software Engineer II (Full Stack, Backend-leaning)

Role Overview

Join Jerry's Core Marketplace Automation Team as a Software Engineer II to build automation systems that power the car ownership experience for millions of users. You'll work on complex insurance servicing tasks, optimize internal tools, and directly impact user experience and business efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end automation systems handling insurance servicing tasks (policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, reinstatements)
• Compose backend business logic that respects complex insurance carrier rules
• Design backend pipelines to sync customer policy data and power seamless re-shopping experiences
• Optimize and scale internal tools to reduce agent intervention
• Collaborate across product, data, and engineering teams to improve customer retention
• Ship new automations in 1–2 week sprint cycles
• Continuously improve backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture

Requirements

• Experience: At least 2 years full-stack engineering experience building production-grade software; ideally experience with large-scale distributed systems for fast-growing consumer-facing platforms
• Technical Skills: Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and systems design
• Problem Solving: Ability to tackle ambiguous problems, break them down into actionable code, and iterate quickly
• Ownership: Take responsibility for end-to-end outcomes and continuous improvement
• Collaboration: Work asynchronously across time zones with excellent communication skills
• Curiosity & Adaptability: Love learning, exploring new tools, and understanding the bigger picture
