About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer II on the Core Marketplace Automation Team, responsible for building automation systems that enable users to self-serve and maintain seamless insurance experiences impacting millions of users daily.

Responsibilities

  • Build end-to-end automation systems for complex insurance servicing tasks including policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, and reinstatements
  • Compose backend business logic that drives automation while respecting complex insurance carrier rules
  • Design and optimize backend pipelines that sync customer policy data, deliver timely alerts, and power re-shopping experiences
  • Optimize and scale internal tools to reduce agent intervention to near zero
  • Ship new automations in 1–2 week sprint cycles
  • Collaborate with product, data, and engineering ops teams to anticipate churn and improve customer retention
  • Work asynchronously across time zones with minimal meetings
  • Continuously improve backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of full stack engineering experience building production-grade software
  • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and systems design
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems for fast-growing consumer-facing software (preferred)
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to tackle ambiguous problems and iterate quickly
  • Ownership mentality and responsibility for end-to-end outcomes
  • Comfortable working asynchronously with excellent communication skills
  • Curiosity and adaptability to learn new tools and understand the bigger picture

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience with specific languages or frameworks mentioned in company tech stack
  • Interest in AI/LLM tools and early adoption of new technologies
