About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer II on the Core Marketplace Automation Team, building automation systems that enable users to self-serve, stay insured, and get seamless experiences. Your code will directly impact millions of end users daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain end-to-end automation systems handling complex insurance servicing tasks (policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, reinstatements)
  • Reduce policy cancellations and improve renewals while ensuring users have optimal coverage
  • Design and compose backend business logic that respects complex insurance carrier rules
  • Build backend pipelines that sync customer policy data, deliver timely alerts, and power seamless re-shopping experiences
  • Optimize and scale internal tools to reduce agent intervention to near-zero
  • Collaborate with product, data, and engineering ops teams to anticipate churn and improve retention
  • Ship new automations in 1-2 week sprint cycles
  • Continuously improve backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture
  • Work asynchronously across time zones with strong async communication

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of full-stack engineering experience building production-grade software
  • Prior experience building large-scale distributed systems for fast-growing consumer-facing software (preferred)
  • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and systems design
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to tackle ambiguous problems and iterate quickly
  • Ownership mentality with responsibility for end-to-end outcomes
  • Comfortable working asynchronously across teams and time zones
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Curiosity and adaptability; comfortable learning new tools and stepping outside comfort zone

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with AI/LLM tools
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience in fintech or insurance tech
