About the role
Role Overview
Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with AI-augmentation focus for a healthcare industry client. This is a hands-on automation engineering role focused on building scalable and reliable automated testing solutions across API, UI, and integration layers. Position is contract-to-perm with conversion potential after approximately 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for APIs, UI, and service integrations supporting Java/Spring Boot applications
- Build and maintain test automation frameworks using Java-based testing tools such as JUnit and RestAssured
- Implement and maintain contract testing and integration testing strategies across microservices
- Develop and manage synthetic test data to support automated testing workflows
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
- Monitor and stabilize test pipelines running against containerized services in Kubernetes environments
- Work closely with software engineers to ensure testability, reliability, and coverage of new features
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate test development, debugging, and maintenance
- Troubleshoot failing tests and support rapid debugging and issue resolution across services and pipelines
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience as an SDET or Automation Engineer building automated testing solutions
- Hands-on experience with Java test frameworks such as JUnit and RestAssured
- Experience creating API, UI, and integration tests for modern microservices architectures
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
- Experience working with containerized services and Kubernetes environments
- Experience with contract testing and test data management
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across automated test environments
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing Java/Spring Boot microservices architectures
- Experience working with distributed systems or large-scale enterprise applications
- Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure environments
- Experience working in healthcare or other regulated industries
