About the role
Role Overview
Join PolicyMe as a Senior Product Designer to shape how Canadians purchase insurance. This is a full-stack design role that goes beyond UI—you'll own the complete design process from discovery through delivery, uncovering opportunities, framing problems, and validating solutions with research and data.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end design ownership: Lead exploratory research, wireframes, prototypes, usability testing, and high-fidelity designs
- Customer & product understanding: Conduct customer interviews, surveys, competitor benchmarking, edge case mapping, and journey reviews
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and align on outcomes
- Product initiatives: Support major launches and optimize existing customer journey flows, from complete revamps to A/B tests
- Design system contribution: Use and evolve the existing design system to ship consistent, scalable UI
- Team participation: Engage in design reviews, retros, product meetings, and daily standups
- Stakeholder communication: Tell the story behind design decisions and align stakeholders, including executives
- Iterative approach: Balance speed and quality by iterating quickly, working with ambiguity, and refining based on feedback
- Process improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement in processes, tooling, and collaboration methods
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing intuitive, user-centric digital products in fast-paced, consumer-focused environments
- Strong foundation in visual design, interaction design, and information architecture
- Proven ability to navigate the full product design lifecycle: research, ideation, execution, validation, and iteration
- Experience conducting or collaborating on user research and translating insights into actionable design decisions
- Comfort with ambiguity and complexity, particularly in simplifying dense or regulated information
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with product, engineering, content, and marketing teams
- Strong prototyping skills with experience in sketching, wireframing, and interactive flows
- Familiarity with design systems and experience contributing to scalable components
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate thinking and frame trade-offs
- Portfolio demonstrating elegant solutions to complex problems
