Senior Platform Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Platform Engineer responsible for building the tooling and systems that enable product engineers to ship features fast without worrying about performance, reliability, or scale. This role spans infrastructure and internal developer tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Pulumi Cloud, treating infrastructure as a product for engineering teams
• Design and maintain internal developer tooling and libraries (code generation, shared SDKs, data access patterns, service scaffolding)
• Create and maintain golden paths for common workflows (new service setup, background jobs, event streams, APIs) with built-in security and observability
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite) and per-PR ephemeral environments for safe, confident deployments
• Drive reliability through SLOs, auto-scaling, incident response, and postmortems
• Create observability tooling and shared instrumentation libraries using Datadog
• Enforce security best practices across IAM, secrets management, encryption, audit logging, and DDoS protection
• Own reliability and performance of the data platform (Aurora PostgreSQL)
• Extend internal TypeScript tooling and libraries

What You'll Do in Month One

• Design systems enabling dozens of deployments per day with confidence
• Create self-serve developer experiences (local dev tooling, templates, workflows)
• Extend internal TypeScript tooling for faster, safer feature development
• Instrument services with observability and alerting
• Solve scaling problems for AI-native mortgage platform growth

Required Skills

• Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and Terraform/IaC
• Proficiency in TypeScript and backend systems
• Experience building developer tooling and platforms
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment infrastructure
• Understanding of database systems (PostgreSQL) and scaling
• Security and observability expertise
