Senior Design Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Design Engineer at Loancrate - a hybrid role combining engineering excellence with design craft. You'll own the complete design quality of the product from concept to production, ensuring pixel-perfect UI and delightful micro-interactions for complex financial workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end design ownership: Lead the full design process from discovery and wireframing through Figma design and React/TypeScript implementation
• Design system leadership: Build and maintain a component library and design system using shadcn/ui variants with documented permutation coverage
• Component development: Write accessible, production-quality React components in TypeScript with proper ARIA, keyboard, and focus management
• Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering during discovery to translate complex workflow requirements into intuitive user experiences
• Design standards: Define, enforce, and audit visual and interaction design standards; maintain consistency across the product
• Accessibility: Design for WCAG compliance and advocate for inclusive design practices
• Documentation: Maintain Figma libraries, component documentation, and design-to-code handoff tooling
• UI component design: Create core components for AI-powered mortgage workflow tools, balancing information density with usability for power users
