About the role
Role Overview
Senior Data Engineer supporting CRB's internal data and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires planning and executing multiple simultaneous large or long-duration projects while contributing to strategic infrastructure and analytical capabilities that deliver actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit data-related business requirements from stakeholders and develop technical specifications
- Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes for data warehousing and systems integration
- Develop and enhance data models to deliver organizational value
- Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot existing data processes and pipelines
- Contribute to reporting and visualization projects using Microsoft BI tools
- Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and data security measures
- Design and implement robust, scalable data architectures and pipelines
- Develop strategies for integrating data from disparate sources into a cohesive ecosystem
- Automate data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and data confidentiality
- Mentor junior data engineers and support their professional development
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices documentation
- Travel as required for project development and execution
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years working with Microsoft SQL databases and warehousing tools (SQL Server, Azure SQL, Synapse SQL)
- 7+ years developing ETL processes using Microsoft technologies (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric)
- 7+ years developing Microsoft Analysis Services Tabular, Power BI, or Fabric semantic data models
- Experience leveraging medallion architecture design patterns
- Proficiency with Azure Gen2 Storage, Synapse, Fabric, Spark Notebooks, REST APIs, Databricks, and related technologies
- Expert proficiency in Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and dynamic team player mentality
