About the role

Role Overview

Join Algrano's 7-person Product team as a Product Designer, working closely with the Head of Design, Head of Product, and CTO to shape the marketplace experience. You'll design and improve user-facing experiences across key areas including coffee discovery, the offers system, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Design and improve user-facing experiences across the Algrano marketplace
Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to transform ambiguous problems into clear, usable flows and interfaces
Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI for new features and improvements
Implement designs in code within the Ruby on Rails application using HTML & SCSS
Evolve the design system (Brew) and interaction patterns to raise consistency and quality
Contribute to product quality through attention to UX writing, edge cases, and craftsmanship
Communicate primarily asynchronously via Slack and Notion, with weekly live meetings
Attend periodic team gatherings in Zurich, Switzerland

Requirements

4+ years of experience designing digital products (UI and UX), ideally in a product-led environment
Ability to take problems from unclear to clear, balancing discovery, iteration, and delivery
Strong interaction and visual design skills with attention to craft and quality
Comfortable collaborating closely with engineers and thinking in components and systems
Comfortable with HTML and CSS (experience with Haml and SCSS in Ruby on Rails a plus)
Clear communication in written and spoken English
Remote-first, based in Latin America or East Africa

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with marketplaces, e-commerce, or complex filtering and search experiences
Background in logistics or the coffee trade
User research experience (interviews, concept testing, usability testing)
Accessibility and inclusive design experience
JavaScript experience, particularly with Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus.js)
