About the role
Role Overview
The Principal Product Manager – Risk & Compliance owns the product roadmap for compliance and risk-related capabilities across the organization. You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Risk to design scalable systems that ensure regulatory adherence, fraud prevention, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Thought Leadership: Monitor global regulatory trends and propose innovative compliance solutions for the roadmap.
- Product Leadership: Define and drive vision, strategy, and roadmap for risk/compliance products, including:
- Transaction monitoring
- KYC/KYB
- AML and sanctions screening
- Fraud prevention
- Regulatory Enablement: Translate complex requirements into scalable product features and processes (e.g., FinCEN, Fintrac, OFAC, PSD2, AUSTRAC).
- Risk Management: Partner with Risk & Compliance to identify key risks and implement real-time detection/mitigation systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Deliver compliance-by-design solutions with Engineering, Data, Legal, and Operations.
- Vendor/Partner Management: Evaluate and manage third-party compliance tools and data integrations (e.g., KYC providers, screening APIs).
- Metrics & Reporting: Define KPIs and dashboards to track compliance performance, operational risk, and fraud trends.
- Customer Experience: Keep compliance processes frictionless while meeting regulatory obligations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 8+ years product management experience, including 3+ years in risk, compliance, or fraud within payments/fintech/financial services.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud, and data privacy regulations.
- Proven ability to deliver products that scale across multiple markets/jurisdictions.
- Strong technical acumen to work closely with engineering and data pipelines.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with compliance technology (KYC, transaction monitoring, sanctions APIs) is highly desirable.
