About the role
Position Overview
Join Oportun as a Principal Product Manager for the Lending Platform. This is a key leadership role requiring a strategic thinker with proven experience managing 0-1 product launches. You will grow the Partnerships program, drive core Marketing capabilities, and work closely with business and marketing teams.
Responsibilities
- Customer Insights & Validation: Maintain deep understanding of customer needs through user research, surveys, and feedback loops; incorporate insights into product enhancements
- Product Vision & Strategy: Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners to define multi-year vision and set OKRs
- Growth Execution: Plan, run, and iterate experiments across funnel and channels to drive measurable lifts in acquisition, activation, conversion, and retention
- Team Leadership: Drive cross-functional teams of Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, ML scientists, and Business partners (Marketing, Risk, Fraud) to deliver business impact
- Risk & Compliance: Work with compliance and risk teams to ensure products meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Communication: Craft product narrative, drive alignment with executive leadership, and communicate priorities, risks, and trade-offs across functions and external partners
Requirements
- 12+ years of total experience, including 7-10+ years in product management within high-growth environments
- Passion for improving the financial health of underserved consumers
- Proven ability as an analytical problem solver with experience working on complex problems
- Strong track record of making data-informed decisions through testing, experimentation, and metrics definition
- Demonstrated success shipping and iterating on impactful products with cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Scrappy, solution-oriented approach with ability to overcome obstacles
- Preferred: 0-1 experience bringing new products to market in financial services
