Principal Engineer | Co-Founder

Role Overview

As Principal Engineer and technical co-founder, you will architect and build the core platform from the ground up alongside the founder. This is a founding-level engineering role with full ownership across every layer of the technical stack, from intake pipeline to matching algorithm to attorney-facing dashboard.

Key Responsibilities

• Case Intake Pipeline — Build an NLP-driven system that converts plain-language consumer narratives into structured, attorney-ready case profiles with extracted fields (injury severity, liability clarity, insurance presence, settlement estimates)
• Lead Scoring Engine — Design a configurable scoring model that evaluates incoming leads against settlement size, liability clarity, injury severity, and insurance coverage thresholds
• Attorney Matching Algorithm — Develop an outcome-weighted matching system that routes qualified cases to attorneys based on practice area, preferences, geographic coverage, and conversion patterns
• Attorney-Facing Dashboard — Create a clean interface where attorneys receive, review, and act on pre-qualified case profiles with full scoring transparency
• Data Infrastructure — Build backend systems for ingestion, storage, analytics, and feedback loops for continuous improvement
• API and Integration Layer — Design extensible APIs for future integrations with attorney CRMs, intake software, and marketing platforms

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or staff-level role owning architecture decisions
• Deep proficiency in full-stack development (Python or Node.js backend; React or similar frontend framework)
• Hands-on experience with NLP/ML pipelines, including text classification, entity extraction, or structured data generation from unstructured inputs
• Strong background in designing and deploying production APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Experience building scoring or ranking systems, recommendation engines, or lead qualification tools
• Comfort operating in a pre-product, zero-to-one environment where speed and iteration velocity matter more than process
• Clear, direct communication style—able to translate technical tradeoffs into business decisions

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in legal tech, insurance tech, or lead generation platforms
• Familiarity with legal data structures (case types, jurisdiction rules, statute of limitations logic)
• Prior founding or early-stage startup experience
