Role Overview

Join Cohere Health's Machine Learning team as a Machine Learning Engineer I to design, deploy, and monitor production models that extract and predict clinical findings from structured and unstructured healthcare data. You'll work with a team of world-class engineers, statisticians, and clinical experts to automate burdensome administrative clinical practices using modern machine learning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth analysis of healthcare data to independently design, develop, and deliver clinical ML models
• Build reliable and scalable production machine learning systems
• Execute feature engineering, statistical analysis, and develop novel ML techniques
• Understand model performance and optimize model runtime
• Work cross-functionally with product managers, statisticians, clinicians, and clinical analysts
• Find promising opportunities for ML impact and deliver on them

Requirements

• 1-3 years of full-time professional experience in Machine Learning
• MS degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar field
• Hands-on experience building with modern language models (context-engineering LLMs or fine-tuning SLMs)
• Understanding of scientific best practices in experimental design
• Ability to independently perform data collection, measurement, and result interpretation
• Experience configuring, training, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining models in production
• Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch
