Role Overview
Lead Backend Software Engineer - a highly technical, hands-on role providing senior-to-staff level technical leadership across backend teams. You'll build and scale systems powering Parsley Health's member experience, clinical workflows, and internal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and evolve backend services supporting core healthcare products, member-facing workflows, and internal operational tooling
- Lead backend technical execution across product pods through architecture design, standard-setting, and technical guidance
- Design systems prioritizing reliability, scalability, performance, maintainability, and clean interfaces
- Partner with Product and Design teams to translate business needs into technical plans and measurable outcomes
- Contribute to infrastructure and delivery practices including deployments, observability, and incident response
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
What We're Looking For
- Senior-to-staff level backend engineering experience with strong system design capabilities
- Technical leadership skills with pragmatic decision-making and clear communication abilities
- Experience building and scaling production systems
- Passion for mission-driven work in fast-moving startup environments
- Ability to thrive with some ambiguity while maintaining ownership and accountability

Work Environment
Remote position with strong preference for NYC-area candidates willing to work hybrid (2 days/week in office). NYC-based candidates must be open to in-office collaboration; fully remote arrangements not available for NYC applicants.
