About the role

Role Overview

You will join the Atmosphere team as an OpenStack Cloud Engineer (DevOps), providing technical support to customers using Atmosphere (Vexxhost's open-source cloud product) and supporting the internal CloudOps team managing public and private cloud infrastructure. This is a remote role ideally suited for those passionate about open-source development and cloud technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical support to customers and internal CloudOps team via phone, ticketing systems, and remote sessions
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to the Atmosphere platform and cloud environments
  • Contribute to and maintain the knowledge base, sharing lessons learned with customers and internal teams
  • Manage support cases to Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards, ensuring high customer satisfaction
  • Troubleshoot detailed cloud environment issues, system failures, and configuration challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and principles
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and Ceph or other storage platforms
  • Hands-on experience with OpenStack
  • Experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with clients and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Passing background check required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud services, particularly OpenStack technologies
  • Certifications such as Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA) or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Familiarity with ML2/OVS or OVN networking
  • Understanding of network protocols, principles, and network virtualization
  • Experience with Helm for Kubernetes package management
  • Experience with Atmosphere platform
  • Knowledge of Prometheus, Python, SRE practices, and Infrastructure as Code

Work Arrangement

Fully remote position with preference for candidates available during Americas business hours.
