Engineering Manager, Consumer (Remote, US)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 4-6 software engineers in building, launching, and maintaining scalable and robust software. You will oversee the development of systems that support our consumer product experience, requiring a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor software engineers, providing technical guidance, career development, and performance feedback. Contribute to hiring plans, job descriptions, and performance management.
• Technical Oversight: Guide and oversee development of user-facing experiences and robust backend services/APIs across the technology stack.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, program management, and other teams to align technical execution with strategic product roadmaps.
• Work Management: Facilitate agile development processes (standups, retrospectives, one-on-ones), manage resource allocation, and handle project prioritization.
• Team Building: Handle hiring, onboarding, and building/maintaining a talented engineering team.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends in software engineering and cloud technologies, championing innovation within the team.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or related experience (BS + 6-12 years preferred; MS counts as 1 year)
• 2-3 years in a leadership/management role overseeing technical teams
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience
• Hands-on experience building and managing scalable systems in cloud environments (AWS/GCP)
• Experience with containerization (ECS/EKS), serverless technologies, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK)
• Strong proficiency in core stack: Python, SQL, with familiarity in TypeScript/React
• Proven track record as a self-starter identifying strategic opportunities and driving initiatives
• Ability to balance leadership with technical execution; willing to engage in design and implementation work
