Director, Engineering- Remote

Role Overview

As Director of Platform Core Services, you will lead the architecture and implementation of a highly scalable, reliable, available, and secure multi-tenant SaaS platform. You will collaborate with product managers, program managers, architects, development managers, and cross-functional leaders to bring foundational platform services to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of foundational platform services including authentication, authorization, gateway, and customer onboarding that must be always-on
• Drive continuous learning and improvement with a focus on predictable delivery and measurable outcomes
• Enable team self-sufficiency by establishing clear ownership, deliverables, roles, and responsibilities across teams
• Partner on architecture decisions for platform and supporting infrastructure across services, data, pipelines, and deployment
• Build and deliver platform roadmaps with strong product thinking, treating platform services as products with a customer-obsessed mindset
• Mentor and coach engineering leaders, scale leaders of leaders, and strengthen the engineering leadership bench
• Create a culture of collaboration across globally distributed teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years of software development experience, including building and operating production systems
• 5+ years of experience delivering multi-tenant cloud-based SaaS products
• Experience building or migrating products to distributed event-based systems using cloud-native technologies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud design knowledge
• Knowledge of DORA metrics and how to use them to drive improvements
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies with proven track record of product delivery
• Excellent time management, communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Ability to align stakeholders around shared goals and drive delivery through clear communication
• Deep experience with cloud-native technologies and architectures (AWS preferred), including distributed systems and event-driven patterns
• Strong observability and reliability experience in cloud environments (metrics, logs, tracing, incident workflows)
• Experience building cloud-scale streaming, analytics, and data products
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated creative problem-solving in fast-paced, changing environments
