DevOps & QA Automation Engineer (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a DevOps & QA Automation Engineer to join our team during a significant architectural transformation. You will be directly responsible for building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated testing and validation, and driving best practices in release governance and infrastructure automation. This is a hands-on role enabling high-confidence deployments, reducing risk, and ensuring engineering discipline during rapid change.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and own end-to-end CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions
• Integrate and maintain test automation into pipelines (unit, integration, system checks)
• Support the engineering team in creating unit tests, enforcing test coverage, quality gates, and release readiness
• Implement environment provisioning, config-as-code, and infrastructure automation
• Work with data and software teams to support secure, reproducible deployments of services and pipelines
• Collaborate on the re-architecture initiative by defining pipeline governance, release controls, and rollout safety mechanisms
• Support the evolution of infrastructure and test-related standards and documentation
• Participate in team ceremonies, reviews, and cross-functional collaboration

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years' experience in DevOps, QA automation, or platform engineering
• Prior work in an early-stage or growth-stage startup environment
• Deep experience with CI/CD tooling — ideally GitHub Actions
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for automation scripting
• Experience with infrastructure as code (SAM, AWS CDK)
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks (pytest, unittest)
• Understanding of modern software delivery workflows and testing strategies
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred), including basic IAM, S3, and EC2
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with relational databases and test data handling (AWS RDS / MySQL)
• Dashboarding and monitoring with AWS platform and tools
• Pragmatic, reliability-focused mindset with high attention to detail

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience embedding quality assurance into pipelines (test coverage enforcement, flaky test detection)
• Mobile app automated test technologies, particularly Android Java
• Familiarity with system monitoring and alerting tooling
• Exposure to data pipelines or scientific computing environments
• Previous involvement in platform re-architecture or CI/CD transformation projects
• Experience building release governance or audit mechanisms
