DevOps Database Assistant Vice President

Role Overview

Join iCapital's Platform Infrastructure team as a DevOps Database Engineer responsible for owning the performance, reliability, security, and operation of SQL and NoSQL database platforms across all environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Performance & Optimization: Own end-to-end performance of SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and database parameter tuning (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Proactive Performance Management: Prevent performance regressions through load testing, performance analysis tooling, and CI/CD validation gates
• Application Partnerships: Collaborate with application teams on schema design, data modeling, and performance improvements across relational and document models
• Production Database Operations: Design, operate, and harden production-grade SQL, NoSQL, and document database systems with strong replication, failover, backup/restore, and security controls
• Disaster Recovery: Define, implement, and validate backup and disaster recovery strategies with routine restore testing and RPO/RTO compliance
• Observability: Establish SLIs and SLOs for database health (latency, error rates, contention, replication lag, storage growth, cache efficiency)
• Operational Excellence: Deliver actionable dashboards, alerts, and maintain operational runbooks with current documentation
• Incident Response: Lead or participate in production incident response and post-incident reviews
• Security: Enforce database security best practices in partnership with InfoSec, including least privilege access and RBAC
