About the role
Role Overview
The Developer II will play a crucial role in the development, enhancement, and support of applications within Gesa's banking operations. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, and Senior Developers to deliver high-quality software solutions. The Developer II is expected to independently deliver significant features end-to-end within their domain, contribute to technical design decisions, and stay current on evolving technology and secure development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop custom software applications and Web APIs (REST/SOAP) to integrate software components
- Design, develop, and test code in alignment with Gesa's coding standards and established patterns
- Write unit tests and contribute to integration testing for software components
- Participate in technical design discussions; propose implementation approaches and tradeoffs
- Optimize application performance and identify bottlenecks within owned components
- Design and implement security measures for assigned application areas; follow secure coding practices throughout the SDLC
- Participate in code reviews to improve code quality, security, and maintainability
- Respond to and resolve production incidents within assigned application areas
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for developed applications and systems
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications
- Identify and address technical debt; recommend process improvements
- Mentor associate and entry-level developers through pairing, code review feedback, and knowledge sharing
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in agile and scrum environments
- Working knowledge of web security principles and security systems
- Ability to analyze information and recommend achievable process improvements
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to lead or facilitate technical discussions and collaborate across teams
- Ability to mentor junior developers and provide constructive feedback
- Working understanding of common application security risks and secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10 awareness)
- Awareness of secure software development practices (secure SDLC/SSDF-aligned practices) and software supply-chain considerations
- Willingness to travel as needed to complete assigned responsibilities
