Data Scientist

Role Overview

As a Data Scientist at Flock Safety, you will explore and analyze data, create data models, and use advanced analytical and modeling techniques to build and deploy predictive and prescriptive tools that drive critical business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy predictive, simulation, and optimization models
• Build and maintain data models using modern tools like dbt
• Create data visualizations and communicate insights to business partners
• Implement end-to-end automation and deployment infrastructure for models
• Set up automated monitoring and testing for deployed models
• Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders on new data science use cases
• Work on strategic business initiatives through data-driven solutions

Requirements

• Education: BS/MS in Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
• Experience: 3+ years proven experience as a data/decision scientist or AI/ML engineer
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Python and its core AI/ML/OR packages
  • Strong SQL and data processing skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure platforms and deployment patterns
  • Experience developing data models (dbt experience is a plus)
• Soft Skills: Ability to communicate with business partners, solve complex problems, and drive solutions

90-Day Plan

First 30 Days: Learn tech stack, internal toolkit, and data science processes; understand existing projects and SQL models; onboard to first project

First 60 Days: Deploy enhanced models; develop new data science project from scratch with stakeholder roadmap and architecture design

90 Days & Beyond: Achieve independence in automation and deployment; implement model monitoring; refine owned projects; expand to strategic business use cases
