About the role
Role Overview
Lead the migration of cloud infrastructure fully in-house, moving from a hybrid setup (AWS + 50+ Rackspace Cloud servers) to a unified, automated, and monitored environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, CloudFront, Aurora, etc.)
- Automate infrastructure and streamline deployments using Ansible
- Optimize databases (MySQL, Redis) and tune system performance
- Build monitoring and alerting solutions using Collectd, Grafana, Kuma, or similar tools
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Implement proactive security practices with a "security-by-default" approach
- Collaborate across teams on adjacent disciplines (backend, data, visualization)
Required Experience
- 3–5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience
- Strong AWS expertise (certifications welcome)
- Proven mastery with Ansible; Capistrano experience is a bonus
- Deep experience with MySQL/Redis and system optimization
- CI/CD automation skills (GitHub Actions preferred)
- Fluency in at least one scripting language (Ruby or Python)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in analytics, ML workflows, or data processing
- Visualization and server monitoring expertise (Grafana, custom dashboards, D3)
- Background in web/backend software engineering
- Data science, data engineering, or pipeline building skills
- Passion for clean, maintainable code and cross-functional collaboration
