About the role

Role Overview

Alma is seeking a mission-oriented Analytics Engineer to join their data team. This person will build out and maintain Alma's information systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into standardized models for use by analysts and stakeholders across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build models and queries to transform data into standardized formats that power business analytics
  • Maintain and develop Alma's data pipeline architecture
  • Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve data quality, reliability, and performance issues across the data lifecycle
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and implement robust processes for ingesting data from diverse internal and external sources
  • Implement data governance best practices and ensure compliance with data policies
  • Work with the data team and cross-team stakeholders to evaluate company priorities and needs

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or analytics engineering with strong emphasis on building and optimizing data pipelines and data warehouses
  • Advanced SQL skills with proven experience writing complex, performant queries and optimizing them in data warehouse environments like Redshift
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence tools
  • Some experience with Python
  • Passion for Alma's mission to improve mental health care access

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with dbt (highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Metabase)
  • Experience with data transformation and data modeling
